Everything you need to know about recovery after your dental treatment at Elonix - organised by treatment type with day-by-day guidance.
At Elonix Clinic, aftercare does not end when you leave our chair. Our team remains available via WhatsApp throughout your entire recovery period, whether you are still in Tirana or back home. Below you will find specific aftercare instructions for each type of treatment we offer.
These guidelines apply regardless of your specific procedure:
Days 1-3: Swelling is normal and peaks around day 2-3. Minor bleeding may occur. Eat only soft, cold foods. Avoid chewing on the implant side.
Days 4-7: Swelling starts to decrease. You can introduce warm (not hot) soft foods. Continue salt water rinses.
Weeks 2-4: Most patients return to a normal diet, avoiding very hard foods on the implant side. Sutures dissolve or are removed at your check-up.
Months 3-6: Osseointegration period. Your implant fuses with the jawbone. You will wear a temporary restoration. Avoid excessive pressure on the implant area.
Day 1: Mild sensitivity is normal. Avoid very hot or cold foods for the first few hours.
First week: Be cautious with hard foods (nuts, ice, hard candy). Your bite may feel slightly different - this is normal and adjusts within days.
Long-term care: Brush and floss normally. Avoid biting fingernails or opening packages with your teeth. Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth.
Day 1: If local anaesthesia was used, avoid eating until numbness wears off to prevent biting your cheek.
First week: The crown may feel slightly high at first. If it still feels high after 3 days, contact us for an adjustment.
Long-term care: Clean under bridges with floss threaders or interdental brushes. Crowns should last 15-20+ years with proper care.
Days 1-5: Significant swelling is expected. Follow a strict liquid/soft food diet. Take all prescribed antibiotics and pain medication on schedule.
Days 5-14: Gradually transition to soft foods. No crunchy, chewy, or sticky foods. Begin gentle brushing around the prosthesis.
Months 1-6: Your temporary prosthesis allows normal eating of most soft-to-medium foods. Avoid hard, crunchy items until your permanent restoration is placed.
